Workshop on Effective Use of EBSCO Business Resources for Academics on 21.09.2023

Objectives:

The workshop is aimed to enhance the knowledge of the e-resources available in the EBSCO database and to increase the usage of the resources. 

Outcomes:

The workshop will help participants to gain knowledge about the available resources in the EBSCO database and will enable them to use the resources for their academic research.

The workshop provides insight into how to create free “My EBSCOhost” account to make their research more easily accessible and can access anytime e-resource access via EBSCO mobile apps.

The Library, DDGD Vaishnav College conducted a Workshop titled “Effective Use of EBSCO Business Resources for Academics” on 21.09.2023 in the Library premises. 73 participants comprising of students from the Department of Business Administration participated in the workshop. Dr.N.Sarulatha, Assistant Professor & Head i/c, Department of Business Administration welcomed the gathering. Dr.R.Periasamy Pradeep Mentor EBSCO IEEE, Technopreneur, Angel Investor, Chennai was the resource person. The session commenced with the presidential address delivered by Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College. Dr.L.Sowbagya Lakshmi Prabha, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry delivered the keynote address for the session. Mrs.J.Sangeetha, Assistant Librarian introduced the resource person. The programme was organised to give an exposure to the students of Business Administration Department on how to use the EBSCO database effectively for their research. He highlighted the various resources available in the database and gave hands on experience on how to set up a free "My EBSCOhost" account to make their research more easily accessible. Participants were briefed about how they can access EBSCO anywhere anytime e-resource via EBSCO mobile app. The students came up with creative open-ended questions and deliberated during the session. The workshop concluded with a prize distribution and a feedback session. The vote of thanks was rendered by Dr.M.Mani, Librarian, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College.

Fireless Cooking Contest on 11.09.2023

Objective:

To Provide a platform for  the  students  to  foster  their  creativity, time management and decision making skills.

To help them explore their hidden talents and discover new areas of interest.

Outcome:

The event will give a platform to the students to demonstrate their organising skill and culinary knowledge and skills related to: developing and following a recipe, preparation of a dish, and displaying the dish before a judging panel where it will be evaluated on flavor, taste and palatability.

Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College, Library & NDLI Club conducted a Competition on “Fireless Cooking Contest” on 11.09.2023 at 02.30 pm in DDGDVC Library. The competition was conducted for the NDLI Club Members of DDGDVC. The competition was judged by Dr. U.Amaleshwari, Director, School of Management, DDGD Vaishnav College. The gathering was welcomed by Dr. P. Suresh, NDLI Club President and Assistant Professor, Department of English (Shift I), DDGDVC. All the teams performed well and it was highly appreciated by our judge. The event provided a platform for the students to foster their creativity, time management and decision-making skills. It further helped them explore their hidden talents and discover new areas of interest. Forty students participated in the competition and the top three teams were awarded. All the participants were given participation certificates.

Workshop on Zotero: Reference Management Software on 08.09.2023

 

Objectives:

• To provide an overview of what Zotero is and how it can be used to collect, manage, and organize citations for articles, books, and other sources
• To demonstrate how to organize references in Zotero by creating collections and using keywords and tags
• To provide opportunities for participants to practice hands-on practically using Zotero

Outcomes:

• To be able to install Zotero onto their operating system and add the necessary browser add-ons
• To insert citations and create bibliographies using Zotero with word processors like Microsoft Word and Google Docs
• To explore additional features of Zotero, such as adding notes, attaching files, and using plugins

The Library, DDGD Vaishnav College jointly with Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science (SALIS) conducted a Workshop titled “Zotero: Reference Management Software” on 08.09.2023 in the Library premises. 32 participants comprising of students from the PG Department of English participated in the workshop. Ms.Nandhini Assistant Professor, Department of English welcomed the gathering. Mr.Sanmati Jinendran Jain, Junior Library Information Superintendent, Central Library, Indian Institute of Technology Goa was the resource person. The session commenced with the presidential address delivered by Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College. Mr.J.Praveen Prabhu, Assistant Professor and Head i/c, PG Department of English (Shift II) delivered the keynote address for the session. Mrs.C.Premakumari Assistant Librarian introduced the resource person. The programme was organized to give an exposure to the post graduate students of PG department of English on how to manage the references in their research work. The students came up with creative open-ended questions and deliberated during the session. The workshop concluded with a prize distribution and a feedback session. The vote of thanks was rendered by Dr.M.Mani, Librarian, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College.

Library Team Development Programme (LTDP) - 16 on 02.09.2023

Programme Objectives:

To provide training on effectively using Google Classroom for collaboration, and resource sharing.

To instruct the Library Team on organizing and sharing library resources using Google Classroom, streamlining the process of curating and accessing learning materials.

To train the team to create interactive content and activities within Google Classroom, enhancing user engagement.

Programme Outcomes:

Proficient understanding of Google Classroom, showcasing their ability to navigate the platform, post content, and manage online resources effectively.

Organize and share library resources using Google Classroom's folders and resources section, streamlining access to learning materials for users.

Create interactive and engaging content using Google Classroom's multimedia tools, resulting in resourceful and captivating learning materials for library users.

Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College Library organized the 16^th Library Team Development Programme (LTDP). Library Team Development Programme (LTDP) on the topic “How to Use Google Classroom" presented by Mr.A.Ameer Rashed Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science with Data Science, The New College (Autonomous), Chennai. on 02.09.2023 at 10.00 am at our Library.

The welcome address was delivered by Mr.D.Rajiniganth, Library Assistant, DDGD Vaishnav College. Dr.M.Mani, Librarian, introduce the resource person. Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College, Delivered a Presidential address and honored the resource person. The resource person Mr.A.Ameer Rashed Khan took over the session and gave a detailed lecture on Google classroom. The session concluded with Vote of thanks by Mr.M.Vigneshwaran, Library Assistant DDGD Vaishnav College.
