Mime Competition on "Reading Habits" - 27.02.2023

Outcome:

It helps to produce more Mime Artist in our college which will in turn strengthen our college cultural Team and also motivate them to concentrate more on reading.

Report:

Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College, Library & NDLI Club organized and conducted Mime Competition on “Reading Habits” on 27.02.2023 at 02.00 pm in DDGDVC Library. The competition was conducted for the NDLI Club Members of DDGDVC. The competition was judged by Dr.T.Umapathy, Theatre Artist cum NSS Programme Officer Assistant Professor PG and Research Department of Economics, Indira Gandhi NSS Awardee. The gathering was welcomed by Dr.P.Suresh, NDLI Club President and Assistant Professor, Department of English (Shift 1), DDGDVC. The entire team performed well and it was highly commended by our chief guest. He also highlighted certain important tips to the students regarding the mime. Totally thirty students participated in the Mime competition and the top three Teams were awarded with cash prize. All the participants were given participation certificate.

Seminar on Academic and Research Connect Platforms 04.02.2023

Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College Library & Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized a one-day Seminar on “Academic and Research connect platforms” on 04.02.2023.The objective of the Seminar was to bring awareness amongst the research scholars and faculty of our institution on the commonly used research metrics like h-index, g-index, i-10 index and e-index which are used to evaluate the research performance of the research scholars and faculty by assessment agency like NAAC, NIRF NBA etc., 115 research scholars and faculty were benefitted through the seminar.

Dr.S.Narayanan, IQAC Coordinator, commenced the workshop by welcome speech. Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College, Chennai delivered the presidential address. Dr.Ashok Kumar Mundhra, Secretary, DDGD Vaishnav College, Chennai gave the felicitation address. The workshop consisted of four sessions. The resource person of the forenoon session was Dr.K.Ramasamy College Librarian, M.V.Muthiah Governement Arts College for Women, Dindigul and the resource person was introduced by Dr.M.D. Balakumaran, IQAC Co-coordinator. The resource person of the afternoon session was Dr.J.Arumugam, Librarian, PSG college of Technology, Coimbatore and the resource person was introduced by Dr.R.Kumaran, IQAC Member, Convenor, Research & Development Cell.The Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.M.Mani, College Librarian, Organizing secretary, ARCP. The master of ceremony by Mr.J.B Deepak-I MA Economics and Ms. S.Sonali-I MA Economics

Sessions I & II: The topics covered on “Measuring the quality & Impact of Research Work: A tool Gallery” and “Dwelling in the ocean of Research Connect platforms: Swim Easy” by Dr.K.Ramasamy, He elaborated on the citation and altmetrics and its significance for faculty credentials and its contribution towards the growth of the institution. He shared his knowledge on the various academic profile creation in publon, Grow kudos, impact story, etc.

Sessions III & IV: The topics covered on “Research & publishing Ethics for authors: A Check list” and “ Publication Impacts on Institutional Rankings : An Inevitable Indicator” by Dr.J.Arumugam. He spoke about identifying the predatory journals and journal finding platforms. He gave awareness about various publications in the international level for all branches including humanities and sciences. He emphasized the visibility of profile and the research work for public by introducing the WOS, Scopus, Google scholar, ORC-Id, Vidvan etc.,

Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal delivered the valedictory address. Shri.Ashok Kumar Mundhra, Secretary gave the felicitation address. The welcome address for the valedictory session was given by Dr.M.Mani, Librarian. The session ended with the feedback and distribution of certificates to the participants. The entire programme was organized by the Library staff members and IQAC members.
