Speech Competition on Nation Led by our Youth - 30.01.2023

Outcome:

The competition facilitates in highlighting the oratorical skills in today’s youth there by recognising their talent in a unique way.

The students are enriched with the manners of public speaking and various aspects of effective speech delivery.

The competition encourages the student to cultivate the habit of reading and avail the resources available in the library.

    Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College, Library & NDLI Club organized and conducted Speech Competition on - Nation Led by our Youth on 30.01.2023 at 02.30 pm in Seminar Hall - 1 Main Block. The competition was conducted for the NDLI Club Members of DDGDVC. The competition was judged by Dr.K.Lakshmi, Assistant Professor and Head Department of English (Shift 2), DDGDVC and Dr.K.Girivasan, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil, DDGDVC. The gathering was welcomed by Dr.P.Suresh, Assistant Professor, Department of English (Shift 1), DDGDVC. Seventeen students participated in the speech competition and the top three participants were awarded. All the participants were given participation certificate.

 Student Development Programme (SDP) on Open Educational Resources for Digital Learning

Objectives:

To identify open educational resources in various disciplines

To figure out open educational platforms for digital learning

Outcome:

    Participant should aware about the availability of open educational resources for their academic learning and the various mode of accessing platforms of resources.

    Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College, Library jointly with Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science (SALIS), Chennai Chapter, conducted Student Development Programme (SDP) on “Open Educational Resources for Digital Learning” on 24.01.2023 at 10.30 am in the Gyan Darshan SoM block. The student development programme (SDP) was attended by 83 participants comprising of students from the PG and Research Department of Mathematics. Welcome Address was given by Selvi F.Hepziba Shirly, NDLI Club Member and student of   Department of Mathematics. Presidential address delivered by Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College. Mr.M.Venkatramanan, Associate Professor & Head PG and Research Department of Mathematics delivered the keynote address. The Principal Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo honoured the Resource Person Dr.R.Sevukan, Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, School of Media and Communication, Pondicherry University, R.V.Nagar, Kalapet, Puducherry and Vice President, SALIS. The students were given insights on how to utilise the Open Education resources (OER). The content was well received by the students. He threw light on the benefits of OER in the current learning system. Students encouraged to read and lead. The students came up with creative solutions to the open-ended questions deliberated during the session. The student development programme concluded with a prize distribution, and a feedback session. The vote of thanks was rendered by Dr.M.Mani, Librarian, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College.
