 Workshop on Research Writing Made Easy 



Report:
The Library, DDGD Vaishnav College, conducted a Workshop titled “Research Writing Made Easy” on 08.11.2022 in the Gyan Darshan Auditorium, School of Management. 95 participants comprising of students from the PG Department of Commerce (Shift II), B.Com Marketing Management and research scholars from various departments participated in the workshop. Dr.K.Ramasamy, College Librarian, M.V.Muthiah Government Arts College for Women (Affiliated to Mother Teresa Women's University, Kodaikanal) Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, was the resource person. The session commenced with the presidential address delivered by Dr. S. Santosh Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College. Dr.P.Sathyanarayanan, Assistant Professor and Head i/c, P.G Department of Commerce (Shift II) and Ms.V.Gayathri, Assistant Professor and Head i/c, Department of Marketing Management delivered the keynote address of the session. The programme was organized to give an exposure to the research scholars and students on various areas, such as how to make use of SPSS for research work, how to carry out both descriptive and inferential statistics using SPSS, help them understand various online sources from where they could collect reviews for this research work and also to enable them render references using the preferred style manual. The students came up with creative open-ended questions and deliberated during the session. The workshop concluded with a prize distribution and a feedback session. The vote of thanks was rendered by Dr.M.Mani, Librarian, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College.

Outcome:

The participants were given enough exposure on research writing.  It enabled the participants with the required knowledge and competent skills to write any research article, paper or dissertation effectively.  The participants got an acquaintance with SPSS interface, how to enter data directly in SPSS and how to import data from MS Excel.  It also empowered them with the knowledge on how to carry out descriptive / inferential statistical tests and writing interpretation for the results of various statistical tests.  Moreover, it also helped them to collect required literature for writing their reviews and render both in text citation and list of references using preferred style manual.
