Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College, Library jointly
with Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science (SALIS),
Chennai Chapter, conducted Student Development Programme (SDP) on “Information
Literacy for Academics and Research” on 18.01.2023 at 10.30 am in the Seminar
hall main block. The student development programme (SDP) was attended by
61 participants comprising of students from the
department of Commerce and Social Work. Welcome Address was given by Selvi G Nandhini,
NDLI Club Member and student of
Department of Social Work. Presidential address delivered by Dr.S.Santhosh
Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College. Mr.S.Seshadrinathan, Associate
Professor & Head PG and Research Department of Commerce delivered the keynote
address. The Principal Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo honoured the Resource Person
Dr.V.Sakthi Rekha Librarian, Madras School of Social Work Chennai and Advisor,
SALIS Chennai Chapter. The session commenced with the Information Literacy for
Academics and Research. The students were given insights on research
which is based on information literacy and various dimensions of research
oriented topics were discussed to write research articles. Students were given
inputs on information literacy. Students
encouraged to read and lead. The students came up with
creative solutions to the open-ended questions deliberated during the session.
The student development programme concluded with a prize distribution, and a
feedback session. The vote of thanks was rendered by Dr.M.Mani, Librarian,
Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College.
