Objectives:

• A Guest Lecture on Digital Information and Modern Society will explore the transformative role of digital technologies in shaping contemporary social life.
• The Lecture will examine how digital information influences communication, education, research, and community engagement, while also addressing challenges such as misinformation, cyber threats, and the digital divide. 

Outcome:

• Students will acquire insights into the responsible utilisation of digital resources, thereby enhancing their digital literacy and critical thinking skills.
• The session aims to empower sociology students to navigate the modern digital landscape effectively and contribute positively to society.

Report:

Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College Library & NDLI Club conducted a Guest Lecture on “Digital Information and Modern Society” on 29.07.2026 at 11.00 am in the Jagad Guru Vallabhacharya Auditorium. The guest lecture was attended by 125 participants. Welcome Address was delivered by Dr.C.Chidambaranathan, Head of the Department of Sociology. The Presidential address was delivered by Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College. The members of the organising committee honoured the Resource Person Dr.S.Dhanalakshmi, Librarian (Associate Professor Grade), N.K.T. National College of Education for Women, Triplicane, Chennai. Mr.I.Noorul Hasan, Assistant Librarian introduced the Resource Person to the gathering. The session explored the transformative role of digital information, explored the emphasising on the responsible usage of digital resources in the modern society. The lecture concluded with a prize distribution, and a feedback session. The vote of thanks was rendered by Dr.M.Mani, Librarian, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College.
