Objective:

• Foster development of empathy, compassion and altruism.
• Highlight the significance of reading and developing their perspective, critical thinking and emotional intelligence.
• Offer practical strategies for integrating reading and community service.

Outcome:

• Understand the concept of ‘humanity’ and its significance.
• Develop a personal reading plan, incorporating diverse texts and authors that amplify their understanding and perspective.
• Learn to balance academic responsibility with community service and personal reading habits.

Dwarka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College Library & NDLI Club conducted an Lecture on “Let the Student Community Bloom with Humanity” on 24.02.2025 at 02.00 pm in the SRG Auditorium. The lecture was attended by 495 participants. Welcome Address was extended by Dr.A.Karthik, Assistant Professor & Head i/c, Department of Corporate Secretaryship (Shift II). Presidential address was delivered by Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College. Dr.P.Vidya, Associate Professor & Head Department of Microbiology delivered the keynote address. As a token of our appreciation and gratitude, the guest of honour Dr.P.Vidya, Associate Professor & Head Department of Microbiology was felicitated by Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal, for her years of dedicated service at DDGDVC. The resource persons Dr.Soundara Mahadevan, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Tamil & ISO Coordinator, Sadakathullah Appa College (Autonomous)   Tirunelveli was honoured by Dr.P.Vidya, and Panmuga Thendral S.Vijay Anand, Executive Editor - Anbu Paalam, Director - JTC Academy was honoured by Dr.A.Karthik. The resource persons were introduced to the gathering by Dr.M.Mani, Librarian. The session focused on the importance of reading, inculcating empathy, emotional intelligence, and compassion. The need for community service as a part of academic responsibility was reiterated. The event concluded with a dynamic question and answer session. The vote of thanks was rendered by Dr.A.Pragathi, Assistant Professor & Head i/c, PG Department of Journalism & Communication.

• Familiarise participants with the features and functions of Ebsco Business Source Elite, for academic research in the field of business and management.
• Provide practical training in advanced search techniques and curating methods for obtaining efficient and precise results.
• Assist participants in navigating the extensive database collection of business resources.

Outcome:

• Acquire a deep knowledge of Ebsco Business Source Elite and its research capabilities.
• Enhance the effective use of the database resources for academic endeavours.
• Integrate high quality resources into research activity.
