Workshop on "Design Your Poster & Website: Harnessing Free Online Tools on 22.08.2024

Objective:

• Demonstrate step-by-step process for creating different types of professional posters & websites.
• Hands on training for each tools.
• Equip participants with the skills to create, edit, and finalise their own poster design & knowledge to maintain and update their websites.

Outcome:

• Understanding of Design and Web Principles.
• Ability to Create Posters & Customise Websites.
• Enhanced Creativity and Confidence.

The Library, DDGD Vaishnav College jointly with National Digital Library of India (NDLI) Club conducted a Workshop titled “Design Your Poster & Website: Harnessing Free Online Tools” on 22.08.2024 in the library DLC. Ms.D.Abirami, Assistant Librarian welcomed the gathering. Mr.A.Thangadurai, Assistant Professor, EEE, K.S.Rangasamy College of Technology, Tiruchengode, Namakkal was the resource person. The session commenced with the presidential address delivered by Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College. Dr.K.R.Latha, Assistant Professor and Head i/c, Department of Tamil (Shift II) delivered the keynote address for the session. Dr.M.Mani, Librarian introduced the resource person. The programme was designed to provide guidance on the utilization of Canva for images and videos, as well as an overview of blogging. The students came up with creative open-ended questions and deliberated during the session. The workshop concluded with a prize distribution and a feedback session. The vote of thanks was rendered by Mr.I.Noorul Hasan, Assistant Librarian, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College.

National Librarians Day Celebration

The Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College Library celebrated the 132nd Birth Anniversary of Padmashri.Prof.Dr.Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan (Father of Library Science in India) along with the National Librarians Day Celebration on August 12, 2024. Dr.S.Sundarabalan, Assistant Professor and the Head of the Department of Statistics at DDGDVC, was the distinguished guest speaker. In his address titled "Read Lead" he emphasised the significance of reading. Following this all faculty members and students took an oath to uphold this commitment.

Oath:

• I am aware that reading maketh a full man, expands our skills, knowledge, wisdom and also essential for the betterment of our life.
• As an educated individual in the society of India, I commit that I shall read and make others around me especially children to read at least one hour in a day and also one book in a month.
• I assure that I will present books as gift and also request others to do it.
• I shall work to spread this message with young students and parents to create a knowledge society.

Library Team Development Programme (LTDP) - 18 on 10.08.2024

Objective:

• To equip library staff with advanced training to elevate their expertise in library services, technologies and leadership capabilities.
• To encourage the adoption of new developments and innovative practices to enrich the quality of library services.
• To develop strategies to improve user satisfaction through exceptional customer service and user engagement.

Outcome:

• Demonstrable elevation in staff’s proficiency across key library functions and technologies.
• Integration of innovative tools and methodologies to streamline library operations and elevate user experience.
• Tangible enhancements in user feedback and satisfaction levels, reflecting better standard of service delivery and user interaction.

Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College Library organized the 18^th Library Team Development Programme (LTDP) on the topic “Empowering Library Staff: A Journey of Professional Growth " presented by Dr.V.Viswanathan, Librarian, Misrimal Navajee Munoth Jain Engineering College, Thoraipakkam, Chennai on 10.08.2024 at 10.00 am at our Library.

The welcome address was delivered by Ms.J.Sangeetha, Assistant Librarian, DDGD Vaishnav College. Dr.M.Mani, Librarian, introduce the resource person. Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College, Delivered a Presidential address and honored the resource person. The resource person Dr.V.Viswanathan took over the session and gave a detailed lecture on empowering library staffs. The session concluded with vote of thanks by Mr.D.Rajiniganth, Library Assistant DDGD Vaishnav College. Master of the ceremony for this programme was Mr.I.Noorul Hasan, Assistant Librarian.

Workshop on “Mastering the Art of Research and Scientific Writing” on 09.08.2024

Objective:

• The objective of this workshop is to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required to write high quality research papers and scientific articles.
• Participants will learn how to effectively communicate their research findings, structure their manuscripts, and adhere to academic and scientific standards.
• The workshop will also cover the use of appropriate language, the importance of clarity and precision, and the ethical considerations in scientific writing.

 Outcome:

• To understand the key components of a research paper, including the abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, and references.
• To develop a clear and concise writing style suitable for scientific communication.
• To utilise various tools and resources for literature review, citation, and manuscript preparation.
• To apply proper formatting and structuring techniques to enhance the readability and impact of their research papers.
• To recognise and avoid common pitfalls in scientific writing, such as plagiarism, data misrepresentation, and inadequate referencing.
• To prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals, including responding to reviewers' comments and revising submissions.

Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College Library conducted a Workshop on “Mastering the Art of Research and Scientific Writing” on 09.08.2024 at 10.00 am in the seminar hall-II. The workshop was attended by 70 participants. Welcome Address was given by Mr.M.Vigneshwaran, Library Assistant. Presidential address delivered by Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College. Dr.P.Vidya, Assistant Professor and Head, PG & Research Department of Microbiology delivered the keynote address. Shri.Ashok Kumar Mundhra, Secretary honoured the Resource Person Dr.J.Arumugam, Librarian, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. Dr.M.Mani, Librarian Introduced the Resource Person. The session began with an introduction to research and components of manuscript writing, strategies to adapt while drafting the articles for the journals as well as conference papers. The session also highlights various artificial intelligence tools for content generation, collecting review of literature, data collection, analysis and reference management. This session also explains various aspect about submitting articles for reputed journals, publishers and avoiding predatory journals for their publications. The students came up with creative solutions to the open-ended questions deliberated during the session. The workshop concluded with a prize distribution, and a feedback session. The vote of thanks was rendered by Mr.I.Noorul Hasan, Assistant Librarian, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College.
