Objectives:
  •   Identify the dimensions of wellness
  •   Recognize how dimensions of wellness are interrelated
  •   Identify how health and wellness impact the quality of life
  •   Recognize the relationship between personal health behaviors and wellness
  •   Recognize the dimensions of wellness in disease prevention
  •   To inculcate reading habit among students with intellectual wellness

Outcomes:

  • Students will understand how physical activity will improve health
  • Students will identify strategies to manage their emotions
  • Helps to maintain interpersonal relationship
  • Lead a Healthy and  Sustainable lifestyle
  • Recognize strategies that can be used to maintain a healthy lifestyle

Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College, Library jointly with Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science (SALIS), Chennai Chapter, conducted Student Development Programme (SDP) on  “Health and Wellness” on 21.12.2022 at 10.30 am in the School of Management block. The student development programme (SDP) was attended by 90 participants comprising of students from the department of sociology. Welcome Address was given by Selvan D Venukishore, NDLI Club Member and student of   Department of Sociology. Presidential address delivered by Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College. Dr.C.Chidambaranathan, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Sociology delivered the keynote address. The Principal Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo honoured the Resource Person Dr.B.Srilakshmi, Librarian, Sir Theagaraya College, Chennai. The session commenced with the Health and Wellness. The students were given insights on the Physical, Mental and Social Health, and various dimensions of wellness were discussed to lead a healthy life. Students were given inputs on a successful life with a healthy lifestyle. Students were addressed regarding the benefits of yoga, pranayama and meditation. Students encouraged to read and lead. The students came up with creative solutions to the open-ended questions deliberated during the session. The student development programme concluded with a prize distribution, and a feedback session. The vote of thanks was rendered by Dr.M.Mani, Librarian, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College.
