National Digital Library of India (NDLI): User Awareness & Enrollment Session on 23.07.2025

 

Objectives:

  • To educate participants about the NDLI, highlighting its purpose, and benefits as a free and accessible online learning platform.
  • To provide guidance on effectively registering for an NDLI account, searching for relevant resources, utilising filtering options, and navigating the platform’s user friendly interface.
  • To assist new users in the registration process helping them successfully create their individual NDLI and NDLI Club accounts.

Outcome:

  • A significant increase in the number of registered NDLI users from the target audience.
  • Participants will acquire practical skills for navigating and utilising digital libraries, applicable to other online information resources as well.
  • Participants will develop a deeper understanding of NDLI’s value and will feel more empowered to use the platform independently.

The Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College Library and NDLI Club conducted a session titled "National Digital Library of India (NDLI): User Awareness & Enrollment Session" on 23rd July 2025 at 2:00 p.m. The session was led by Ms.C.Premakumari and Mr.I.Noorul Hasan, Assistant Librarian of DDGDVC. Commencing with a welcoming address, the resource persons presented a thorough summary of the NDLI portal, outlining its vast array of resources and explaining how students can efficiently utilize these tools for their academic research endeavors. Furthermore, the session provided information regarding the registration procedure for the DDGDVC NDLI Club, involvement in different activities, and advice on obtaining certificates.

Library Team Development Programme (LTDP) - 19 on 19.07.2025

Objectives:

  • To know Emerging trends in Library services.
  • To know the technologies and innovation in libraries.
  • Role of Librarian in supporting the patrons.
  • Plan and implement new library services.

Outcome:

An overview of innovative library services in the digital era, highlighting how libraries are adapting to technological advancements while maintaining their role as community and knowledge hubs.

Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College Library organized the 19th Library Team Development Programme (LTDP) on the topic “Innovative Library Services in Digital Era" presented by Mr.G.Lakshmikanth, Librarian, Dharmamurthi Rao Bahadur Calavala Cunnan Chetty’s Hindu College, Pattabiram, Chennai on 19.07.2025 at 10.00 am at our Library.

The welcome address was delivered by Ms.C.Premakumari, Assistant Librarian. Ms.J.Sangeetha, Assistant Librarian, introduce the resource person. Dr.M.Mani, Librarian, Delivered a Presidential address and honored the resource person. The resource person Mr.G.Lakshmikanth, then took over the session and provided an in-depth lecture on Innovative Library Services in the Digital Era. The session concluded with vote of thanks by Ms.D.Abirami, Assistant Librarian, DDGD Vaishnav College. Master of the ceremony for this programme was Mr.I.Noorul Hasan, Assistant Librarian.

Smile Technology: Essential Awareness Programme on Oral Hygiene on 16.07.2025

Objectives:

  • Educate college students on maintaining good oral hygiene practices.
  • Inform students about the impact of diet, lifestyle, and stress on oral health.
  • Discuss the importance of regular dental check-ups and preventive care.
  • Promote healthy habits to prevent oral health issues common among young adults.

Outcome:

  • Students understand the importance of oral hygiene and its impact on overall health.
  • Students learn strategies to maintain good oral health.
  • Students are empowered to make informed decisions about their oral health.
  • Improved oral health awareness and habits among college students.

Report:
Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College Library & NDLI Club Jointly with Department of Botany conducted a session on Smile Technology: Essential Awareness Programme on Oral Hygiene on 16.07.2025 at 10.30 am in the seminar hall-II. The workshop was attended by 57 participants. Welcome Address was delivered by Dr.R.Muralidharan, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Botany. The Presidential address was delivered by Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College. The Principal honoured the Resource Person Dr.S.Gopalakrishnan, Periodontist, Oral Implantologist & Dental Surgeon, Professor, Thai Moogambigai Dental College and Hospital (TMDCH), Chennai. Dr.M.Mani, Librarian introduced the Resource Person to the gathering. The session was successful in promoting crucial oral health knowledge and practices among the participants. The positive response and evident learning among participants’ underscore the importance of continuous efforts in this domain. Smile Technology remains committed to fostering healthier smiles and contributing to the overall well-being of the community through such impactful initiatives. The programme concluded with a Q&A session and prize distribution. The vote of thanks was rendered by Dr.P.Ezhumalai, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College.

Workshop on "AI Tools for Research Writing" on 10.07.2025

 


Objectives:

  • Introduce researchers to AI-tools that can facilitate the research process.
  • Demonstrate applications of AI in research.
  • Provide hands-on experience with select AI tools, allowing researchers to explore their features and functionality.
  • Identify potential venues for publication and ways to avoid predatory publications. 
  • Discuss ethical considerations and best practices for the responsible use of research tools. 

Outcome:

  • Participants will gain knowledge of various AI-powered tools available for research particularly literature search, literature review, and writing assistance.
  • Participants will gain hands on experience to integrate AI tools into their research workflows, enhancing efficiency and productivity.
  • Participants will understand how AI can facilitate research methodologies, such as systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and predictive modelling.
  • Participants will recognize the importance of responsible AI use in research, including plagiarism checks. 
  • By leveraging AI-powered tools and methodologies, participants will be equipped to streamline their research processes, leading to increased productivity and improved quality.

Report:

Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College Library & NDLI Club conducted a Workshop on “AI Tools for Research Writing” on 10.07.2025 at 10.30 am in the seminar hall-I. The workshop was attended by 81 participants. Welcome Address was delivered by Dr.S.Jagadeeswari, Associate Professor & Head i/c, Department of Microbiology. The Presidential address was delivered by Dr.S.Santhosh Baboo, Principal, DDGD Vaishnav College. The Principal honoured the Resource Person Dr.H.Fazlunnisa, Assistant Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, University of Madras, Chepauk, Chennai. Dr.M.Mani, Librarian introduced the Resource Person to the gathering. The session particularly aimed at providing hands on experience with select AI tools and to explore their multiple features. The session emphasised the effectiveness and methodologies of AI. The session provided ways to facilitate the effective use of AI in research. The workshop provided participants with practical knowledge and skills to enhance their research capabilities using AI tools.

The retiring staff Mr.S.Nesarathinam, Assistant, DDGDVC was honoured for his relentless service and dedication towards the institution.

The workshop concluded with a prize distribution, and a feedback session. The vote of thanks was rendered by Mr.G.Ashish, Assistant Professor, Department of MSW, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College.
